October 2008:   Congratulations to Pete Amos for successfully defending his dissertation proposal on October 6th. His proposal was entitled Analysis of the Regenerative Benefit of Pretreatment of Adipose-Derived Stromal Cells with Hypoxia. In other news, Pete Amos and Alyssa Taylor will be representing the Peirce-Cottler Laboratory at the IFATS conference in Toulouse, France later this month.

May 2008:   Congrulations to Dr. Alex Bailey who, on May 1, successfully defended his dissertation entitled "Manipulation of the Adhesion Cascade for Enhancement of Therapeutic Cell Trafficking during Ischemia." Please see the Photo Gallery for pictures from his defense and graduation on May 18, 2008. In other news, Pete Amos's investigation of adipose stem cells in a perivascular role has been accepted for publication in an upcoming issue of Stem Cells!

April 2008:   The Peirce-Cottler laboratory is growing! Roy Wheat, MS, has joined our team and is the new full-time Lab Manager & Technician. In other news, recent work characterizing the functional adhesion capabilities of adipose stem cells has been published in Annals of Plastic Surgery. See "Publications" for details; Congratulations to Pete Amos for his hard work.

March 2008:   Congratulations to Matt Kraeutler for being selected as a Harrison Award Winner! This award will provide Matt with year-long funding for his independent research project on adipose stem cells. This work will be conducted in Dr. Katz's lab, a strong collaborator.

February 2008:   Congratulations to Bryan Thorne whose recent review article on computational modeling entitled "Agent-based Modeling of Multi-Cell Morphogenic Processes During Development" has been published and is now available for download. See "Publications" for citation information.

January 2008:   Congratulations to Alex Bailey who will be travelling to Vancouver, British Columbia on Jan. 15 to present recent work entitled "Necessity of unknown selectin-binding molecule and SDF-1alpha for trafficking of therapeutic stem cells to ischemic injuries" at the Keystone Symposia on Angiogenesis.

September 2007:   The Peirce-Cottler laboratory has had a very exciting month! Three new manuscripts have been accepted for publication and are currently in press. Please see the "Publications" tab for more information. Congratulations to Dr. Peirce, author on three of the manuscripts, as well as Bryan Thorne, Shawn A. Birchenough, and Alex Bailey

August 2007:   Congratulations to Alex Bailey for the acceptance of his paper entitled "Arteriolar remodeling following ischemic injury extends from capillary to large arteriole in the microcirculation" for publication in an upcoming issue of Microcirculation.

July 2007:   Congratulations to Alyssa Taylor who will be attending her first international conference and presenting her work entitled "Functional Role for EphB4 in Vascular Patterning during Angiogenesis of the Chick Chorioallantoic Membrane." This year's conference is being held in Bristol, UK! Bryan Thorne's review article on agent based modeling can now be accessed online (see Publications), and Pete Amos will be attending the NSF-funded Debating Science Program at the University of Montana Center for Ethics.

June 2007:   Congratulations to Alex Bailey who was appointed to the Biotechnology Training Program and to Bryan Thorne who won an American Heart Association Pre-doctoral Fellowship. Alyssa Taylor was also re-appointed as a Cardiovascular Research Center Trainee.
