I am a fourth year undergraduate student in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. I began working in the Peirce laboratory in the fall of my second year and have loved learning about the many different projects within the lab and helping out in anyway I can. Currently, Liz Wynne is teaching me how to perform the ÒbackpackÓ surgery on the dorsal skin of mice in order to analyze their vasculature with incredible in vivo imaging. I am looking forward to practicing and applying this technique on diabetic mice in the fall. I am originally from a small town in North Carolina where we spend most of our free time water skiing and camping out at the fabulous Jordan Lake. I am also studying Spanish and love to travel. This summer I will be living in D.C. and working for Amazon Conservation Team in Arlington, VA.

University of Virginia
Bachelor of Science, Biomedical Engineering, expected May 2009
