I am a third year biomedical engineering student from Boston, MA, which is a wicked cool place to live. In my free time, I coach a soccer team of young girls and participate in the Salsa Club at UVA. I also volunteer at the Free Dental Clinic in Charlotesville, and I am a self-proclaimed smoothie master. I began work in Peirce Lab as a second year, doing measly odd jobs that are a step above the janitorial level. My help paid off, and I am now working on creating a teaching tool to better teach medical students and residents to properly perform pneumatic otoscopy and diagnose other pathological findings of the ear. I will be presenting to the Association of Pediatric Program Directors (APPD) and the Council on Medical Student Education in Pediatrics (COMSEP) at a conference in Baltimore as well as at the Midwest Biomedical Engineering Conference (MBEC) in Ann Arbor this spring. As for my future, I intend to get a research-oriented internship this spring, and beyond that… we will see.
