I graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Virginia in May, 2007. I joined the Peirce laboratory as a 2nd year undergraduate student in Biomedical Engineering, and I worked on independent research projects through my 4th year. I won a Harrison Award in 2006, which sponsored my independent research project (which was also my Capstone Project and Senior Thesis Project) and a trip to the National Biomedical Engineering Society Meeting in Chicago, 2006. My research in the Peirce laboratory focused on a method of fluorescently labeling and dynamically tracking human adipose stromal cells in vivo. After graduation in May, I will pursue a career in the biotechnology industry. I am originally from Philadelphia, and I hope to return there after completing my degree. Outside of the lab, I gave tours for the School of Engineering and served as a student mentor.
