The Department of Biomedical Engineering of the University of Virginia (UVa) invites applications for a tenure-eligible or tenured faculty position. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an energetic and well-funded research program and will engage in teaching and training of graduate and undergraduate students. The candidate will join an exciting research environment with outstanding opportunities for collaboration. Rank, tenure status and compensation are dependent upon qualifications and experience. A doctoral degree in Bioengineering/Biomedical Engineering or a related field is required. To be competitive for a tenured position, candidates must be nationally recognized for their scholarship and research and have an outstanding teaching track record and commitment to education. Tenure eligible candidates must have an independent research program or outstanding potential.
Our department is housed both in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences and the School of Medicine, which readily facilitates collaborative and translational research. Department areas of research excellence include cardiovascular bioengineering, medical and molecular imaging, cellular and molecular bioengineering, and computational systems bioengineering. Emerging opportunities for UVa and BME include neuroscience and neurodegenerative diseases, cancer, drug delivery, and global health and infectious disease.
